Snapchat Adds New Audio Features
The Verge said Snapchat's new deal with NBCUniversal will bring audio from popular shows like The Office, Bridesmaids, Parks and Recreation, Saturday Night Live and more to the platform, so users can add audio clips to their snaps — just like that. Like TikTok - then send it to their friends.
Accordingly, users who receive clips with audio from an NBC show will be able to swipe up to view more information about the content. Clicking the play this audio button will show users streaming services that they can use to watch the show or movie.
“NBCUniversal has an iconic catalog and we know Snapchat users will love adding quotes from their favorite movies and series to their videos to help express the moment perfectly,” said Ben Schwerin, Senior Vice President of Content and Partnerships at Snapchat.
This comes in the context of the competition between Snapchat and TikTok. In October of last year, Snapchat signed deals with Warner Music Group, Universal Music Publishing Group, Warner Chappell Music and more, allowing users to add music to their footage.
