Disable startup programs Windows 7

Some applications and services cause system errors and freezes when running simultaneously from Adobe applications. Services are custom programs that implement functionality to support other programs. Before you start your Adobe application, disable other applications, including startup items (things that start automatically with Windows), and services using selective startup.

Important : When you deselect Mount System Services in Selective or Diagnostic Startup, you are permanently deleting all System Restore Utility restore points. If you are concerned about deleting your restore points, keep this option selected and then test for the problem. Sometimes you have to turn off system services at the end to fully test the problem.

Note : The commands in these steps may differ slightly depending on your system configuration.

Disable startup items and non-Microsoft services
Be careful when disabling services. Make sure that services that are important to the proper functioning of your device are not disabled. Disabling these services can also lock your device.

Quit all applications.
Choose Start > Run and type msconfig in the Open box. Then click OK .

Write down all the unchecked items under the Startup and Services tabs.

Click the General tab and choose Selective startup .

Select the Startup tab, then select Disable all .

Determine which startup items are essential to testing the problem. If you are not sure if an item is necessary, leave it unchecked (disabled).
Click the Services tab and select Hide all Microsoft services .

Click Disable all .

Enable any required services to troubleshoot the problem.
Click OK , and restart Windows.

When you restart, you'll see a message saying that the System Configuration Utility has changed the way Windows starts. Click OK . When the System Configuration utility appears, click Cancel .

Right-click the icons in the notification area (called the system tray in previous versions of Windows) to close or disable any startup items that are still active.
